Cous Fest", a peaceful culinary "summit"
which has become a symbol and link between
the cultures of the Mediterranean and elsewhere.

| Maftoul,
kseksou, cuscus, cuscussù, cascasa, sekso,
kskso, kuskus, kuski, burgul, tabouleh, in one
word bran, in two COUS COUS. Setting aside the
linguistic differences, cous cous is a universal
food, one of the world's most common dishes
today, along with rice and pasta. It is durum
wheat bran, fine as desert sand, skilfully ground
into fine grains then steam-cooked. Cous cous
may have originated as a "poor" dish,
but it is rich in history and tradition, dating
back from time immemorial. San Vito Lo Capo
cous cous celebrates the universality of this
food. |

Cous cous is a blend of brans and a blend of
cultures, a great excuse to invite the greatest
chefs from to San Vito Lo Capo for an appetising
competition for the Best Cous Cous award. The
prestigious title will be awarded by an international
panel of reporters, opinion makers and experts
from the fields of travel and enogastronomy. |

Peoples of completely different origins - not
only geographically speaking - come together
in San Vito Lo Capo, where gastronomic tradition
and hospitality meet history and religious ritual,

Stands in the Cous Cous dal Mondo village and
the Casa del Cous Cous sanvitese will feature
the star of the show appearing in a host of
different versions with meat, fish and vegetables. |

San Vito event in September offers a unique
occasion to attract explorers of gastronomy
from all over the world. An itinerary exploring
flavours and ethnic and anthropological traditions
on the trail of a rich, imaginative culinary
tradition, a selection of foods which are direct,
wholesome expressions of the identity of the
land, promoting typical local products and unusual
combinations of food and wine in a series of
technical workshops, cooking courses, discussions
with experts and nutritionists, theme events
and great cooking washed down with island's
best wines. A festival of dishes and flavours,
and more: a village offering the best of crafts,
tourism, food and agriculture from Italy and
all over the world. |
